Daily Devotion: The Spirit of Christmas

A sign. The long-awaited expectation of the coming Messiah. Joyful expectation as the shepherds go to see for themselves The Promised One.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:11-12)

The Spirit Of Hope

With the fall of man, all mankind was was doomed to die. Forever without hope. But God, in His great mercy restored man’s lost hope with His promise of a Savior. The people waited.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

Year after year after year they watched with anticipation, asking in hope “are you the one”?

With the angel’s pronouncement, the shepherds set out to find Him; the One they had been waiting, and watching and hoping for.

Messiah has come! The waiting is over! Hope is fulfilled! This Christmas season may you be filled with the spirit of hope.
